Super 8 (2014)

Digital photography

Super 8, is a photographic body of work that address issues of intimacy and technology. Shot at slow speed, the digital camera sensor captures ghostlike silhouettes engaging in the space with the technology. The eerie atmosphere created by the single glowing light emitted by a computer screen reveling the cheap motel room adds to the overall visual aesthetics enhancing the tensions between representation and reality. This project started on a recent road trip where I was staying in the Super 8 motel chain. One night as I was about to go to sleep, I turned off the lights and suddenly I was in this room with my computer open on the bed. It felt a bit surreal and uncanny and I felt compelled to capture this space photographically.
